Karaikandeswarar temple, Kanji

The Karaikandeswarar temple features Dravidian architecture with stone carvings and sculptures depicting mythological figures along the temple walls and pillars.

The temple stands as one of seven religious structures built along the banks of Cheyyar River, with its current masonry construction completed by Se.Ve.Venketaraman chettiyar.

Four daily rituals occur at specific times, including sacred baths, decorations, food offerings, and lamp ceremonies dedicated to Karaikandeswarar and Periyanayagi Amman.

The temple maintains regular hours with morning ceremonies starting at 5:30 AM and evening ceremonies concluding at 10:00 PM, accommodating visitors throughout the day.

During the Tiruvoodal festival in January, Nandi receives decorations of fruit, vegetable, and sweet garlands while deities participate in ceremonial performances.
