Darsi Assembly constituency, Legislative Assembly constituency in Prakasam district, India.
Darsi is an electoral region spanning five administrative divisions in Prakasam district: Talluru, Kurichedu, Mundlamuru, Darsi, and Donakonda. Together these areas form a constituency that includes both rural settlements and small towns.
The constituency was established in 1951 through electoral boundary changes and held its first election that same year. Its first elected representative, Sanekomma Kasi Reddy, came from the Communist Party of India.
The region brings together communities speaking Telugu and Tamil, each maintaining distinct local customs and celebrations throughout the year. These traditions shape how people interact and mark important moments in their everyday lives.
When visiting, keep in mind that the area consists of several separate administrative centers spread across the territory, so plan to explore more than one location. Roads are easier to navigate outside the monsoon season when weather conditions improve.
The region was an early stronghold of communist politics in South India, making it significant for understanding the origins of leftist movements in the area. This historical connection still shapes how local communities remember their past.
