Suryalanka Beach, Public beach in Bapatla district, India
Suryalanka Beach is a public beach in Bapatla district that runs along the Bay of Bengal coastline. Palm trees and dune grasses line the sandy shore, and the shallow water extends for several meters before deepening.
The beach remained little developed for decades and kept its natural character. During the late 1990s, the first infrastructure and access roads for visitors appeared.
The name comes from the Sanskrit word for sun and points to the prominent position for observing daylight changes. Vendors sell fried seafood and local snacks while families gather for evening walks along the water.
Changing rooms and parking spaces are available, and food stalls sell drinks and snacks. The most comfortable time to visit falls between November and March when temperatures are milder and the sea remains calmer.
The location allows watching both sunrise and sunset over the same body of water. The Bay of Bengal shifts its color from warm orange to cool violet depending on the time of day.
