Bhavani Island, Vijayawada

Bhavani Island is a 133-acre river island in the Krishna River featuring wooden houses, adventure sports facilities, and expansive green spaces throughout. The island combines recreational zones with natural areas for visitors to explore.

The island took its name from the Goddess Bhavani associated with the Kanaka Durga Temple on the nearby Indrakeeladri hill. This connection to local religious tradition established the island's identity in the region.

The Shilparamam arts village on the island showcases regional craftsmanship through traditional Kondapalli toy makers and local weavers working in their studios. Visitors can watch these artisans practice techniques passed down through generations.

The island is reached by a 5-minute ferry ride from Punnami Ghat, located about 7.5 kilometers from Vijayawada railway station. Wear sturdy shoes and bring plenty of water, especially if visiting during the hotter parts of the day.

The island features a robotic dinosaur park with mechanical creatures displayed alongside gardens and mazes that surprise visitors. Water sports options like jet skiing and zorbing add unexpected activities to the river setting.
