Katra Masjid, Islamic monument in Murshidabad, India
The Katra Masjid stands on a square plinth with four octagonal minarets reaching 70 feet high and features five large domes on its structure.
Built between 1723 and 1724 by Nawab Murshid Quli Khan, this structure served as both a caravanserai and mosque during Bengal's strong trade period.
The mosque incorporates fourteen flights of stairs where Nawab Murshid Quli Khan requested burial beneath them to demonstrate his personal humility.
Visitors can reach the monument by taking a train to Murshidabad railway station, which connects to major cities like Howrah, Mumbai, and Chennai.
Two large corner towers contain specific openings designed for musketry, making this religious structure also function as a defensive fortification.
