Pataudi Palace, Heritage hotel in Pataudi, India
Pataudi Palace is a white colonial mansion with gardens and lawns near Delhi. The estate spreads across a large property with old trees and green areas surrounding the main building.
Robert Tor Russell designed this mansion in 1935 for Iftikhar Ali Khan, the 8th Nawab of Pataudi, after his marriage. The building was later converted into a hotel after the family opened the rooms for guests.
The estate carries the name of the Nawabs of Pataudi, a family who shaped cricket and cinema across generations. Visitors today encounter traces of this past in photographs on the walls and in the way the building has been restored.
The accommodation is about an hour's drive from Delhi and offers rooms for overnight stays with breakfast included. Visitors should book in advance as the number of rooms is limited.
Several rooms carry the names of films starring Julia Roberts, including Pretty Woman and Eat Pray Love. This naming reflects the family's connection to cinema and gives the rooms an unusual touch.
