Hijron Ka Khanqah, Sufi sanctuary in Mehrauli, India.
The Hijron Ka Khanqah features white painted tombs arranged in a patio area, constructed from local sandstone in the heart of South Delhi.
Built during the Lodi dynasty between 1451 and 1526, this cemetery contains forty-nine tombs of members from the hijra community.
The site functions as both a spiritual retreat and cemetery for the hijra community, who are legally recognized as a third gender in India.
Access to the monument requires navigation through Chatta Wali Gali, a narrow lane in ward number 6 of the main Mehrauli road.
The Hijras of Turkman Gate maintain this 15th-century monument and distribute food to those in need during religious occasions.
