Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb

Jamali Kamali Mosque and Tomb is a medieval building complex in Mehrauli with a carefully designed structure. The prayer hall features five distinct arches of red sandstone with white marble details and decorated medallions covering its interior surfaces.

Built in 1528, this structure became the final resting place for Sheikh Jamali Kamboh, a court poet during the Lodi Dynasty. The complex reflects the architectural and literary traditions that flourished under that rule.

The walls inside hold Persian inscriptions that mix Quranic verses with poetry written by Jamali himself during his life. These writings show how faith and literary art were deeply connected in this era.

The monument is reachable via Qutab Minar Metro Station on the Yellow Line, and you can visit between 10 AM and 6 PM. Wear loose clothing to respect the religious nature of the place when you arrive.

Inside the tomb chamber lie two marble graves set within a square room decorated with red and blue paintings arranged like a jewelry box design. This ornate decoration often goes unnoticed by visitors walking through.
