Chhatarpur Temple, Hindu temple in Chhatarpur, Delhi, India.
Chhatarpur Temple is a Hindu temple complex in Chhatarpur in southern Delhi, covering 28 hectares and comprising more than 20 individual shrines built from white marble. The buildings are connected by paved pathways and courtyards, with the tallest spire rising above the main shrine dedicated to Katyayani.
Sant Nagpal founded the complex in 1974 and dedicated the central shrine to Katyayani, the sixth form of Goddess Durga. Additional buildings were erected in the following decades to house different deities in the Hindu pantheon.
The complex takes its name from Chhatarpur village, and worshippers gather daily for arati with singing and bell ringing in the shrines. Women traditionally wear saris or salwar kameez when entering the inner spaces, while visitors walk barefoot across the cool marble floors.
Men and women enter the complex through separate gates with security screening, and free shoe storage is available. Visiting hours run from sunrise until after nightfall every day, with larger crowds during festival periods.
The shrine for Navadurga contains a silver bedroom with a bed, side tables, and nine chairs around a meeting table. This room is meant to serve as a resting and consultation space for the nine forms of Goddess Durga.
