Garden of Five Senses, Public park in Saidul Ajaib, Delhi, India
The Garden of Five Senses is a green space in the Saidul Ajaib district of Delhi, covering approximately 8 hectares and designed around the concept of different sensory experiences. The grounds are divided into several themed areas with water features, stone sculptures and a variety of plants, forming a quiet retreat from urban life.
The local tourism authority opened the park in February 2003 as a new public recreation area in the south of the city. The planning and design were meant to create a green oasis that could also be used for cultural events.
The park takes its name from the deliberate design of different zones that each highlight sensory impressions such as scent, color or sound. In the individual sections, fountains and rock walls provide visual accents, while herb gardens and flower areas release different fragrances.
Opening hours change according to the season, with longer visiting times until evening possible in summer. A small admission fee is charged, which is staggered by age.
A solar-powered sundial on the grounds shows the time through shadow casting and serves simultaneously as an instructive teaching aid for visitors. The construction combines ancient astronomical principles with renewable energy.
