Plaza Theatre, Film theatre on M.G. Road, Bangalore, India
Plaza Theatre was a film theatre on M.G. Road with 433 seats and a wooden dance floor. The building featured architectural elements inspired by London's Piccadilly Circus.
Arcot Narrain Swamy Mudaliar transformed his furniture store into a cinema in 1936. This theatre shaped the city's entertainment scene for decades until it eventually closed.
During World War II, the theatre served as a gathering place for Anglo-Indian families and military personnel stationed in the city. It played an important role in providing entertainment and bringing together people from different backgrounds during that era.
Access to the location is straightforward today since it is integrated into the Metro station and easily reached by public transport. Visitors should look for the historical photographs on display within the station that document the former use of the site.
The historical site has completely disappeared beneath the modern Metro station, though it leaves traces in photographs displayed on the walls. These visual records allow visitors to picture what once stood in this spot.
