The construction of this 4000-seat stadium completed in 1995 under the guidance of Sundaram Consultants following the transformation of Sampangi Lake area.
The stadium honors the legacy of Karnataka leadership through its name while serving as a central venue for basketball, badminton, and table tennis tournaments.
The facility contains eight strategic entrances, including dedicated access points for athletes, VIPs, officials, and general public near Cubbon Park metro station.
The architectural design incorporates an elliptical ring beam at 8 meters elevation, supported by 24 equally spaced arch columns around the structure.
