Kanteerava Indoor Stadium is a modern sports venue in Bangalore with an elliptical design that holds around 4000 spectators. The roof is composed of 120 precast concrete plates and maintains temperature control for athletic events.
The facility was completed in 1995 following the transformation of the Sampangi Lake area into a sports center. The project was guided by Sundaram Consultants and aimed to enable professional competitions in Bangalore.
The stadium takes its name from a notable Karnataka leader and serves as a hub for basketball, badminton, and table tennis events. These sports shape the venue's daily rhythm and draw regular crowds to watch competitions.
The stadium has eight entrances at different points, making it easy to find your way as a visitor. It sits near Cubbon Park metro station, which makes arrival by public transport straightforward.
The building sits on 24 evenly spaced arch columns supporting an elliptical ring beam at 8 meters height. This design allows unobstructed interior views and represents a distinctive engineering approach for a stadium of its time.
