Bengaluru

Bengaluru is the state capital of Karnataka and spreads as a metropolis across several districts, with wide roads lined by trees running between residential and commercial areas. Public gardens and smaller parks provide green spaces among the buildings, used every day by people who walk and rest there.

The settlement appeared in the 16th century under local rulers and gradually turned into a center for trade and exchange. British administrators later moved offices and garrisons here, which pushed growth forward and brought new infrastructure.

Breakfast sellers offer fresh dosa and idli from early morning, while tea vendors set up at crossroads when the afternoon begins. Religious festivals happen several times a year, bringing processions into the streets and filling temples with crowds and ceremony.

Public transport includes a metro system and buses that reach most parts of the metropolis, though roads can be slow during peak hours. Water is sold everywhere, and English works well for communication alongside local languages like Kannada.

In older neighborhoods you can still find houses with inner courtyards, where families gather to eat and talk after sunset. Some street names go back to the 18th century, even though most of the buildings around them have been replaced or rebuilt.
