Plaza Theatre, Film theatre on M.G. Road, Bangalore, India
The Plaza Theatre building featured a wooden dance floor, 433 seats, and incorporated architectural elements inspired by London's Piccadilly Circus design.
Arcot Narrain Swamy Mudaliar purchased the land in 1873 and transformed his furniture store into this entertainment venue, which opened in March 1936.
During World War II, the theatre became a central entertainment spot for Anglo-Indian families and military personnel stationed in Bangalore.
The theatre's ticket prices evolved from nine annas for basic seats in 1936 to seventy rupees for balcony seats during its final screening in 2005.
The location now hosts the Bangalore Metro station, where historical photographs of the former theatre remain displayed for public viewing.
