The Legislature of Telangana operates through two chambers, with the Legislative Assembly containing 119 members and the Legislative Council comprising 40 representatives.
The Legislature began functioning on June 2, 2014, following the creation of Telangana state through the bifurcation of the former Andhra Pradesh.

The Legislative Assembly conducts sessions at the Legislative Building in Hyderabad, where representatives discuss state budgets, laws, and administrative matters.
The Legislative Assembly Building, constructed in 1905, stands next to hanging gardens and commemorates the 40th birthday of Mir Mahboob Ali Khan.
