Legislature of Telangana, State legislature in Hyderabad, India
The Legislature of Telangana is a two-chamber system in Hyderabad operating with a Legislative Assembly of 119 members and a Legislative Council of 40 representatives. These chambers meet to discuss state budgets, laws, and administrative matters.
The system began operating on June 2, 2014, when Telangana was established as an independent state from the former Andhra Pradesh. This separation represented a major turning point in the region's political structure.
Members represent different areas of society, including local authorities, graduates, teachers, and appointed experts. This mix brings varied perspectives into discussions at the legislature.
The Legislative Building is located in Hyderabad at a site with known gardens, where sessions can be viewed from public areas. Keep in mind that security measures are in place, particularly during active sessions, and the location is easily reached by road.
The Legislative Building was constructed in 1905 and was originally designed to commemorate the 40th birthday of Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. It stands next to hanging gardens that give the site its green character.
