Smart Bazaar, Retail hypermarket chain in Mumbai, India
Smart Bazaar is a retail chain with locations across more than a hundred Indian cities, selling food, clothing, electronics, and household goods. The network connects traditional shops with digital ordering through its own platform.
Kishore Biyani founded the chain in 2001 and grew it over two decades. Reliance Industries took over more than two hundred Future Group locations in 2022 and continued operations under new management.
The retail chain adapts to Indian shopping patterns by offering both traditional market elements and modern retail experiences under one roof.
Customers can buy goods directly at the branches or order home delivery through the connected JioMart platform. The shops offer shopping carts and several checkout lanes for faster processing.
The chain counts more than three hundred branches across India and ranks among the largest hypermarket networks in the country. Many locations were converted from former Big Bazaar shops, so some buildings still show earlier design features.
