Kidangoor Subramanya Temple, Hindu temple in Kottayam district, India
The Kidangoor Subramanya Temple stands on the banks of Meenachil River, featuring two main shrines dedicated to Subrahmanya and Vishnu deities.
Built before the 11th century, this temple marked the boundary between the ancient kingdoms of Vadakkumkur and Thekkumkur in Kerala.
The temple complex includes a Koothambalam theater where performers present traditional arts based on the ancient Natyasastra performing guidelines.
The temple opens at 4:30 AM for morning rituals, including Ganapathi Homam and Ushapooja, while evening ceremonies start at 5:00 PM.
The primary shrine contains an idol that emerged from sage Gauna's Kamandalu water vessel and traveled through water to reach its current location.
