Son Bhandar Caves

Son Bhandar Caves is a rock-cut Buddhist cave complex in Bidar with two chambers featuring trapezoidal entrances and vaulted ceilings. The chambers are carved into the base of Vaibhara Hill and demonstrate construction techniques from ancient times.

The caves date to the 3rd century CE and contain inscriptions in Gupta script documenting their creation by Jain Muni Vairadeva. The site was built as a sanctuary for religious images and devotional purposes.

The caves display Buddhist architectural elements with stone carvings of religious symbols, including a Chaumukha idol bearing dharma wheel representations. The chambers reflect the artistic preferences of their time period.
