The building, designed by New Zealand architect Joseph Fearis Munnings, began construction in 1912 and opened on July 1, 1917 with 17 employees.

The structure represents a period of postal development in Bihar, serving as the central communication point for letters and parcels across the region.

Located at the intersection of Buddh Marg and New Market Station Road, the facility processes 100,000 letters daily through 96 postal workers.

The postal complex extends across 22 acres, incorporating seven rooms and multiple halls that manage over 1.2 million savings accounts.
