Kohima Ao Baptist Church

The Kohima Ao Baptist Church is a church building in Kohima that blends traditional Naga design elements with modern construction. The structure provides seating for around 3500 worshippers, including balcony areas for additional capacity.

The church was founded in 1939 by nine members of the Ao community, marking an expansion of Christianity beyond the traditional Ao region. The original building underwent complete reconstruction and modernization between 2011 and 2019.

The church functions as a spiritual center for the Ao community, holding services in English and local languages. It brings together people from across the city for worship and fellowship gatherings throughout the year.

The building is located in the Midland Ward area and hosts regular worship services, prayer meetings, and gatherings throughout the year. Visitors should be aware that the grounds are actively used for religious events and activities.
