Kohima Ao Baptist Church

The Kohima Ao Baptist Church features traditional Naga design elements and modern construction, with a capacity to accommodate 3500 worshippers including balcony seating.

Founded in 1939 by nine members of the Ao community, the church underwent complete reconstruction from 2011 to 2019 at a cost of 26 crore rupees.

The church holds services in English and local dialects, serving as the main religious center for 9000 baptized members from 3500 households across Kohima.

Located in the Midland Ward of Kohima, the church building organizes regular worship services, prayer meetings, and sectoral fellowship gatherings throughout the year.

The church stands as one of the first Ao Baptist institutions established outside the traditional Ao region, marking the expansion of Christianity in Nagaland.
