Alampur Jogulamba Temple, Hindu temple in Alampuram, India
Alampur Jogulamba Temple is a Hindu temple in Alampur, India, positioned along the banks of the Tungabhadra River. The stone work displays motifs and decorations from the Chalukya era, while the main structure includes several chambers and a covered courtyard.
The temple was established in the 7th century and later suffered heavy damage during military conflicts. After remaining in a deteriorated state for several centuries, a full restoration was completed in the early 21st century.
Pilgrims visit throughout the year to seek blessings and participate in rituals that follow centuries-old traditions. The location by the river adds to the spiritual setting, where devotees perform prayers and offerings according to regional customs.
The site sits roughly 220 kilometers (137 miles) from Hyderabad and can be reached by regional roads. Visitors should prepare for warm temperatures and direct sunlight, as the area tends to be hot and dry.
The complex belongs to a group of nine shrines traditionally linked with medicinal plants. This connection was documented by a scholar named Rasa Siddha, who described the healing properties of vegetation surrounding each shrine.
