Beechupally, Hindu temple in Mahabubnagar district, India
Beechupally is a temple complex situated on the banks of the Krishna River featuring regional Telugu architectural elements. The site includes an ancient Hanuman shrine and a Lord Kodanda Rama temple completed in 2004 through community contributions.
The complex began when Vyasa Raya established an ancient Hanuman shrine, establishing the site's religious foundation. Additional structures were added in the 18th century, gradually expanding the complex over time.
The temple draws large crowds during Krishna Pushkaralu, a sacred river festival held every twelve years, where pilgrims gather for prayers and rituals along the water. The site remains an important meeting place for the local community throughout the year.
A bridge built in 1958 provides direct access to the temple from both riverbanks, making it easy to reach from either side. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for wet conditions during monsoon season when paths can become slippery.
The community built the Lord Kodanda Rama temple in 2004 entirely through public donations without external funding. This grassroots effort demonstrates how local residents shaped the site through their collective commitment.
