Province of Rovigo, Administrative province in Veneto, Italy.
The Province of Rovigo is an administrative region in northeastern Veneto that stretches between the Po and Adige rivers. More than 50 municipalities spread across this territory, forming an agricultural landscape shaped by river plains.
The territory gained importance around 920 when the bishop of Adria chose Rovigo as an alternative seat after destruction by Hungarian forces. This shift helped the town develop and later become a key center of the region.
The area displays several Renaissance buildings that shape its cultural life. The Palazzo Roverella in Rovigo serves as an art gallery today, showing works that reflect the artistic tradition of the region.
The area is connected to major northern Italian cities by the A13 motorway and the SS434 road. Railway connections link Rovigo to Padua and Bologna, making travel in both directions straightforward.
The eastern section contains the protected Po Delta area, where river deposits created a network of channels, lagoons, and small islands over centuries. This water landscape is a rare habitat with its own plants and wildlife.
