Torino Hut, Mountain hut in Courmayeur, Italy.
Torino Hut is a mountain lodge located above 3,300 meters in the Mont Blanc massif, perched above Courmayeur in the Aosta Valley. The building provides sleeping quarters and food service for climbers preparing for or returning from routes across the surrounding peaks and glaciers.
The original building was established in 1898 by the Italian Alpine Club to serve climbers in the Mont Blanc region. The current structure was rebuilt in 1952 with larger facilities to accommodate the increasing number of mountaineers using the site.
The hut serves as a gathering point for mountaineers from around the world who share a passion for alpine exploration. Visitors experience the camaraderie that comes with high-altitude climbing, where shared meals and conversations connect people across different backgrounds.
The hut can be reached by the Skyway Monte Bianco cable car from La Palud, with an intermediate stop at Pavilion du Mont Fréty. Visitors should bring weather-resistant clothing and sturdy footwear, as conditions at this elevation change rapidly.
The hut sits directly above the Mont Blanc Tunnel, a major transport link between Italy and France that passes beneath the building. From this vantage point, visitors can access multiple glaciers including the Toula Glacier and the Vallée Blanche, which offer challenging ski descents.
