Dôme de Rochefort, Alpine summit in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and Courmayeur, France and Italy.
The Dôme de Rochefort reaches an elevation of 4015 meters and stands on the border between France and Italy in the Mont Blanc massif.
The first ascent of the Dôme de Rochefort took place on August 12, 1881, when James Eccles climbed with guides Alphonse and Michel Payot.
The summit serves as a meeting point for French and Italian mountaineers who share this mountain as a symbol of their joint alpine heritage.
The Torino Refuge, reachable by cable car from Italy, accommodates 180 people and functions as a base camp for climbing the Dôme.
The southern face features a rocky spur that descends almost 1000 meters to the Plampincieux glacier.
