Aiguille de Leschaux

The Aiguille de Leschaux is a rock summit on the France-Italy border that rises from granite formations and offers multiple climbing routes of varying difficulty. Its steep walls and exposed position make it a popular destination for experienced mountaineers.

The summit was first climbed in the 1800s by alpinists systematically exploring the Mont Blanc group, who established multiple routes to the peak. These early ascents contributed to the development of modern climbing techniques.

The summit lies exactly on the watershed that divides Mediterranean and Adriatic drainage basins. Water drops from this spot can flow to two different seas depending on which side they fall.
