Aiguilles Marbrées, Mountain summit at France-Italy border.
Aiguilles Marbrées is a 3535-meter peak positioned on the France-Italy border between Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and Courmayeur. Sharp granite peaks form its distinctive silhouette above the Glacier du Géant.
The peak attracted climbers beginning in the 19th century when European mountaineers started exploring the Mont Blanc massif's challenging terrain. Ascents became part of early modern alpinism's development.
Local guides from both French and Italian sides maintain traditional climbing routes, passing their expertise through generations of mountaineering instructors.
Reaching the summit requires a cable car to Punta Helbronner station at 3462 meters, followed by crossing a glacier. Proper climbing equipment and mountaineering experience are needed.
From this peak you can see three countries at once: France, Italy, and Switzerland. You also stand on the watershed dividing the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas.
