Glacier de la Brenva, Alpine glacier in Courmayeur, Italy
The Brenva Glacier extends over 7 square kilometers with a length of 6,700 meters on the Italian side of Mont Blanc massif.
Local records indicate a village named Saint-Jean-de-Purtud once existed where the left lateral moraine now stands, until glacier progression destroyed it.
The Notre Dame de Guérison Sanctuary stands near the glacier along the Val Veny road, marking a significant religious site since 1792.
Visitors can arrange guided tours through the Società delle Guide Alpine at Piazza Abbé Henry in Courmayeur to explore the glacier safely.
From Mont Blanc summit, the glacier descends 3,500 meters to Val Veny, forming the highest ice cascade in the Alps.
