Palace Tomb, Rock-cut tomb in Petra, Jordan
The Palace Tomb rises 46 meters high and stretches 49 meters wide, with three distinct stories featuring columns and decorative architectural elements carved into red rock.
Dating from the first century CE, this Nabataean tomb incorporates design elements influenced by Roman architecture, particularly the style of Nero's Golden House.
The tomb structure contains four burial chambers with wall-carved graves and niches, reflecting Nabataean burial practices and their advanced stone-carving techniques.
The monument requires climbing several steps to access the interior chambers through four separate doorways, and currently lacks wheelchair accessibility.
The highest level of the Palace Tomb differs from other Petra structures as it was constructed with ashlar blocks rather than carved from solid rock.
