Nagayo

Nagayo is a town in the Nishisonogi district of Nagasaki Prefecture, located on a hilly peninsula by the coast. The area comprises several smaller communities linked by rural roads and coastal pathways, displaying typical Japanese rural architecture and landscape.

The settlement developed as an administrative community during Japan's modernization period in the late 1800s and was later reorganized as an urban administrative unit. The region maintained its agricultural and fishing roots throughout administrative changes.

Spring and autumn offer the best visiting conditions with mild weather and accessible rural exploration. The roads are narrow and rural, so traveling by foot or car at slow speed allows better appreciation of the surroundings.
