University of Hyogo, Public university in Kobe, Japan
The University of Hyōgo is a public institution in Kōbe, Japan, with administrative headquarters in the Harborland district and five additional campuses across the prefecture. The faculties are distributed among business, engineering, nursing, social sciences, and humanities, each with its own infrastructure.
The institution was formed in 2004 through the merger of Kōbe University of Commerce, Himeji Institute of Technology, and the College of Nursing Art and Science. This consolidation aimed to pool the academic resources of the prefecture and expand research capacity.
The name refers to Hyōgo Prefecture, where several branch campuses are located. Cooperation with companies and communities allows students to engage directly with the regional economy.
Most branch campuses are accessible by public transport, with the central administrative location in Harborland being well connected. Visitors should check in advance which of the five sites hosts the facility they seek.
The Laboratory of Advanced Science and Technology for Industry conducts research in particle physics and material sciences. This facility works on application-oriented projects that link scientific foundations with industrial applications.
