Chino

Located at 800 meters altitude, Chino extends across 266 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, including Mount Yatsugatake, Mount Tateshina, and Mount Kirigamine.

The area belonged to Shinano Province under Suwa Domain control during the Edo period, before becoming Eimei village in 1889 and receiving city status in 1958.

The Suwa Taisha Shrine Complex contains four separate Shinto sanctuaries, representing important religious centers that attract numerous local worshippers throughout the year.

The city connects to Tokyo and Nagoya through the East Japan Railway Company's Chūō Main Line, with additional access via National Routes 20 and 152.

The Masumi Sake Brewery, established in 1662, produces 1.8 million bottles annually and maintains its position among Japan's leading sake manufacturers.
