Toyone

Toyone is a mountain village in Kitashitara district, Aichi Prefecture, spread across forested slopes and valleys with several small settlements. The landscape is dominated by dense forests that surround the communities year-round and shape daily life in the area.

The village was established as an independent municipality in 1889 and experienced a major administrative change in 2005. This merger brought new structures to local governance and community organization.

Local festivals in Toyone highlight agricultural traditions throughout seasons, connecting residents with centuries-old Japanese farming practices and mountain village customs.

The village is accessible via National Route 151, which runs through the mountain region. Visitors should note that the area is rural and services may be limited.

Two dams are located within the village boundaries and produce electricity for the region. These hydroelectric facilities are an important part of local infrastructure, though not always obvious to visitors.
