Nakagyō Ward, Administrative ward in central Kyoto, Japan.

Nakagyō-ku extends over 7.41 square kilometers between the Kamo River and contains multiple covered shopping arcades, traditional streets, and cultural landmarks.

Established in 1929, this central district houses Nijo Castle, which served as the residence of Tokugawa shoguns during their visits to Kyoto.

The ward maintains three major festivals - Aoi Matsuri, Gion Matsuri, and Jidai Matsuri - representing centuries of Japanese ceremonial traditions.

The district features an efficient transportation network with multiple bus routes and subway lines connecting visitors to Kyoto Station and surrounding areas.

The Kyoto International Manga Museum, located in a former elementary school, contains over 300,000 manga publications and research materials.
