Minami-Kusatsu Station, Railway station in Kusatsu, Japan.
Minami-Kusatsu Station is a railway station on the Biwako Line portion of the Tokaido Main Line with three island platforms arranged within an elevated structure. The station building spans above all tracks, creating a unified terminal space that handles regular commuter and passenger flows.
The station opened in 1994 following a local petition for improved rail connectivity to the area. Its construction represented a major infrastructure investment that transformed access to the region.
The establishment of Ritsumeikan University's Biwako-Kusatsu Campus near the station in 1994 transformed the area into an educational center for the region.
The station features a staffed ticket office to assist passengers with their bookings and inquiries. The elevated design allows easy access to all three platforms without crossing any ground-level crossings.
The station received the designation code JR-A25 in March 2018 as part of the implementation of the station numbering system.
