Sibiloi National Park
Sibiloi National Park, National park in Marsabit County, Kenya.
The 1,570-square-kilometer protected area stretches along the northeastern shore of Lake Turkana, featuring semi-desert landscapes and volcanic formations.
The national park gained UNESCO World Heritage status in 1997 as part of Lake Turkana National Parks, following its establishment by Kenya in 1973.
The lands within and around the park support multiple indigenous communities, including the Gabbra, Turkana, and Dassanach peoples.
Access to the park requires advance planning due to its remote location, with basic accommodations available near the Koobi Fora Research Center.
The Koobi Fora fossil sites contain over 300 hominid specimens, contributing to scientific understanding of early human evolution.
