Chau Say Tevoda

Chau Say Tevoda is a temple with a central sanctuary surrounded by courtyards and four towers positioned at cardinal points. These elements are connected by an entrance hall that organizes the overall layout.

This temple was built in the early 12th century under King Suryavarman II during a peak period of Khmer architectural development. This era shaped the region's artistic and building traditions for generations to come.

The sandstone walls display detailed carvings showing Hindu deities and scenes from ancient mythology. These artistic elements form a key part of what makes the structure visually distinctive.

The temple sits a short distance from the eastern gate of Angkor Thom, making it fairly easy to reach. You will need a park pass to enter the Angkor Archaeological Park.

Between 2000 and 2009, Chinese restoration teams reassembled roughly 4000 scattered stones to return the site to its original form. This major reconstruction effort shaped what visitors see when they walk through today.
