East Mebon

The East Mebon temple stands on three levels with stone elephants stationed at each corner of the first and second platforms.

King Rajendravarman II commissioned this temple in 952 CE as a shrine to Shiva and positioned it at the center of the East Baray reservoir.

The temple structures incorporate intricate stone carvings depicting Hindu deities, including representations of Indra and Shiva with their sacred animals.

Visitors enter through the eastern entrance and typically spend 40 minutes examining the temple structures, sculptures, and architectural elements.

When the East Baray contained water, boats transported people to this temple, evidenced by the four landing stages at its base.
