Hwaseong, Agricultural city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea
Located in the greater Seoul metropolitan area, Hwaseong extends across the largest agricultural area within Gyeonggi Province, supporting regional food production and distribution.
The establishment of Hwaseong County in 1949 marked a significant administrative change when Suwon City separated from Suwon County, leading to city status in 2001.
The agricultural heritage of Hwaseong manifests through specialized production facilities for honey melons, herbs, dairy products, and traditional Korean confectionery called Hangwa.
Two major rail lines, Seoul Subway Line 1 and Suin Bundang Line, connect Hwaseong through Byeongjeom Station and Eocheon Station to the metropolitan network.
