Muuido, Coastal island in Incheon, South Korea
Muuido is a coastal island in Incheon featuring two main beaches with rocky outcrops and sandy shores along its extensive waterfront. The landscape includes tidal flat areas where the seabed becomes visible when water recedes significantly.
The island was previously accessible only by ferry from the mainland, which limited visitor access. A bridge completed in 2019 changed this by creating direct road access.
Local fishermen gather diverse sea products from the tidal flats, including crabs, clams, snails, and horned turbans throughout different seasons.
Accommodations near the beaches provide basic facilities suitable for families and small groups. Visitors should plan around tidal changes when exploring the exposed seabed areas.
At low tide the water retreats about one kilometer, exposing a vast mudflat that becomes a gathering place for shellfish collection. This temporary landscape appears and disappears with the tides, creating a changing environment throughout the day.
