Camp Red Cloud, Military base in Uijeongbu City, South Korea
Camp Red Cloud is a United States military installation in northwestern Uijeongbu, situated between Seoul and the Korean Demilitarized Zone. The base features administrative buildings, residential quarters, medical facilities, and recreation areas designed to support military operations and personnel needs.
The base received its current name in 1957 on Armed Forces Day to honor Corporal Mitchell Red Cloud Jr., a Medal of Honor recipient. The installation was previously known as Camp Jackson before this formal redesignation.
The facility functions as headquarters for the 2nd Infantry Division and maintains multiple units including the 55th MP Company and 604th Air Support Operations Squadron.
Access to the installation is restricted as it is an active military facility where civilian visits are not permitted. The base can be viewed from surrounding public areas while respecting security boundaries and local regulations.
In 1998, severe monsoon rains caused substantial flooding at the base, resulting in three service member casualties and extensive damage to multiple buildings.
