Gyeongneung, Royal burial plot in Goyang, South Korea
The burial site includes three distinct sections: an entrance area with ceremonial structures, a ritual space for offerings, and the burial mound with stone sculptures.
Constructed in 1457, Gyeongneung holds the remains of Crown Prince Deokjong from the Joseon Dynasty and forms part of the larger Seooreung tomb complex.
The location and layout of the tomb reflect traditional Korean geomancy principles, ensuring proper placement within specific distances from the capital city.
The tomb site maintains regular opening hours throughout the year, with guided tours available in multiple languages through advance reservations at the visitor center.
Stone figures of military officers, civil officials, tigers, and sheep surround the burial mound, following strict placement rules of Joseon royal tomb architecture.
