Haemi Sanctuarium Internationale, Catholic martyrdom shrine in Seosan, South Korea.
The Haemi Sanctuarium Internationale contains a fortress spanning 1.8 kilometers with ancient weapons, traditional games, and a memorial tower standing 16 meters high.
During the Joseon Dynasty between 1866 and 1882, over one thousand Catholic believers were executed at this site, making it Korea's largest martyrdom ground.
The site hosts Korean traditional performances including pansori folk music and Jultagi tightrope walking demonstrations from April through October each weekend.
Visitors can explore the oval-shaped fortress grounds in approximately one hour, examining historical artifacts and participating in traditional Korean games like tuho.
A 600-year-old Hoya tree stands in front of the former prison building, marking the location where numerous Catholic martyrs met their fate.
