Taeanhaean National Park

Taeanhaean National Park is a marine protected area located along the southern coast. The landscape combines sandy beaches, rolling dunes, rocky outcrops, and scattered islands that create a varied coastal ecosystem.

The area was established as the country's thirteenth national park in 1978. This designation marked an important step in protecting the coastal region.

The park contains Heungjusa Temple and Baekhwasanseong Fortress, which reflect Buddhist traditions important to the region. These sacred sites sit within the coastal landscape and mark the spiritual heritage that shaped the area.

The park features multiple camping areas and marked walking trails that explore different sections. Checking current conditions before visiting is wise, as the coastal location means weather can change quickly.

The area is home to rare marine animals such as minke whales and finless porpoises that appear regularly in these waters. Visitors who spend time at the coast have opportunities to spot these creatures moving through their habitat.
