Ras Beirut

Ras Beirut is a residential district stretching along the Mediterranean coast, featuring schools, shops, and apartment buildings in various architectural styles. The neighborhood blends older and newer structures throughout its streets.

The area has been inhabited since ancient times, with archaeological finds from the Lower Paleolithic through Neolithic periods showing continuous human settlement. These early traces form part of the land's long history.

People of different religions live and work side by side in this neighborhood, reflecting Lebanon's diverse society. This mix shapes how the district functions and feels on a daily basis.

The neighborhood has plenty of restaurants, hotels, and shops, especially along Hamra Street near the American University campus. It is easy to walk around and well-connected to other parts of the city.

The building Al Ba'sa is remarkably narrow and was constructed in 1954 specifically to block the view of neighboring properties. This unusual structure still stands as a visible reminder of a personal dispute from decades past.
