Durmitor National Park

The Durmitor mountain range consists of 48 peaks above 2300 meters, forming a natural fortress surrounded by deep canyons and dense forests.

The Montenegro Assembly designated Durmitor as a national park in 1952, followed by UNESCO World Heritage status recognition in 1980.

The surrounding villages maintain traditional Montenegrin customs through local food preparation methods, textile crafts, and seasonal festivities.

The national park entrance costs 5 euros per person per day, with multiple hiking trails starting from the Black Lake near Žabljak town.

The Tara River Canyon within the park measures 82 kilometers in length and reaches depths of 1600 meters, making it Europe's deepest canyon.
