Space Shot, Drop tower ride in Walibi Holland, Netherlands
Space Shot is a drop tower ride at Walibi Holland in the Netherlands that launches riders straight up before sending them into freefall. Riders sit in seats attached to a tall tower, and the full sequence lasts only a few seconds.
The ride opened in 1998 when Walibi Holland was expanding its range of more intense attractions. It was built by S&S Worldwide, an American manufacturer known for pneumatic thrill rides.
Space Shot sits in the Speedzone area of the park and is easy to spot from a distance thanks to its tall tower. Many visitors use it as a reference point to find their way around the park.
Wait times can grow long on busy days since the ride is popular with many visitors. Going early in the morning or later in the afternoon generally helps to avoid the longest queues.
The ride uses compressed air to shoot riders upward rather than simply dropping them as a classic freefall tower does. This means the upward launch is the most intense part of the experience, not the drop itself.
