Flevohof, Theme park in Biddinghuizen, Netherlands.
Flevohof was a large recreational park in Biddinghuizen that combined farming demonstrations, livestock areas, and amusement activities across a sprawling landscape. The grounds held working farms, greenhouses, market gardens, and craft studios for pottery and painting.
The park opened in 1971 when Princess Beatrix inaugurated it, intended to showcase the land reclamation methods used in the Flevoland region. It grew into a major leisure destination that blended education with entertainment for visitors of all ages.
The park showed farming and crafts as everyday practices through working farms, garden plots, and studios where visitors could watch pottery and painting happening, connecting them to rural traditions.
The grounds were large enough to require time for full exploration at a comfortable pace. A narrow-gauge railway system helped transport visitors through the park, making it easier to see everything without excessive walking.
Portions of the original narrow-gauge railway track remain preserved and visible to visitors today. These historical rail remnants show how guests were once transported efficiently through the vast grounds.
