Manaslu Conservation Area, Protected area in Gorkha District, Nepal.
The Manaslu Conservation Area spans 1,663 square kilometers across six climate zones, from subtropical valleys at 600 meters to alpine heights at 8,163 meters.
The Nepal government established this conservation area in 1998 and designated it as an IUCN Category VI site for sustainable resource management.
The local population of 7,000 residents maintains traditional Tibetan-influenced practices through agriculture, livestock farming, and seasonal migration to lower elevations.
The main trekking route starts from Gorkha and follows the Budhi Gandaki river through multiple villages before reaching Larke Pass at 5,106 meters.
The area provides habitat for 33 mammal species, including snow leopards and red pandas, plus 110 bird species and 2,000 flowering plant varieties.
