Al Batinah North Governorate

The Al Batinah North Governorate extends along the Gulf of Oman, with mountains to the west and fertile plains between them and the sea.

The region underwent administrative reorganization in 2011 when the Al Batinah Region split into two separate governorates: Al Batinah North and South.

The six provinces of Al Batinah North maintain traditional Omani customs through their local markets, fishing communities, and agricultural practices.

Sohar, the capital of Al Batinah North Governorate, connects the region through a network of roads serving its population of 784,681 residents.

The territory spans 12,500 square kilometers, combining coastal areas with agricultural lands that support the largest population density in Oman.
